This design features our original character, Pup-kin Honey, made from watermelons and donning a traditional keffiyeh around her neck.
For many Palestinians, the keffiyeh symbolizes their yearning for freedom from oppression, and serves as a reminder of history. For many non-Palestinians, it's a show of solidarity for them and for all oppressed people.
As for the watermelons (often called summer pumpkins), following the Six-Day War in 1967, Palestine's oppressors banned the public display of the Palestinian flag in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Pup-kin Honey has always been a symbol of Love, and the inner light one possesses to bring our own unique magic into the world: To proudly share the watermelon in our art is a nod to the resilience of the Palestinian people, suffering through a genocide, by bringing attention to their plight while embracing the colors of the Palestinian flag. Many social algorithms choose to shadowban or ignore content with the actual flag of Palestine, and the watermelon motif serves to aid us in sharing their story.
Partial proceeds from this particular artwork will be donated to the PCRF (Palestine Children's Relief Fund), on a monthly basis, who's mission is 'to provide medical and humanitarian relief collectively and individually to children throughout the Levant, regardless of their nationality or religion'.
